JMO: Junior Mathematics Olympiad

About-

JMO or Junior Mathematical Olympiad is a competition organized by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghathan and the National Board of Higher Mathematics for class 10th to 12th. JMO is also a qualification test for the Regional Mathematics Olympiad.

The syllabus does not include Calculus and statistics.




Preparation Tips-

Know the syllabus-

This seems obvious but not understanding the importance of each topic may be detrimental to you. The syllabus is vast and the questions will come from a range of different topics.

Understand the exam pattern-

Before starting your preparation. Analyze the exam pattern. It will give you an idea about what all is important and what is not important. You need to delve deeper in the topics and have a high level of theoretical and practical knowledge.

Stick to a schedule-

You have to stick to a particular schedule to prepare for the Olympiad. This will bring consistency in your preparation along with motivation. You can re-adjust your time table when needed.

Mock tests are important-

Practice makes man perfect. You have to appear for mock tests as much as possible so that you are able to meet your expectations that you have set for yourself in your Math Olympiad.

Ask for help from your teachers-

If you have any doubt regarding any topic or your schedule, seek help from your teachers. Remember that they understand your strengths and weaknesses well from teaching you. Take notes from them and their advice about your performance etc.
